PuntoflexThe Puntoflex network enables electronic prepaid service distribution, money transfer and stored value card processing targeting the global Hispanic market.

The company’s proprietary transactional platform is being deployed in 17 countries, including Mexico, U.S., Dominican Republic, Spain, Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, El Salvador, Colombia and Aruba.

The Puntoflex network will reach the estimated 250 million Hispanics and Latin Americans excluded from the electronic transaction world today due to their lack of credit or banking relationships. Yearly expenditures in this sector are estimated to exceed $300 billion. The products and services currently processed through Puntoflex can be divided into the following four categories:

  • Prepaid Telecom & Entertainment Services
  • Money Transfer
  • Stored Value Cards
  • Bill Payment

Prepaid Services

The prepaid telcom market exceeds $320b worldwide. Latin American prepaid wireless alone is estimated at $8b per year with over 100 million users. However, the traditional distribution of physical cards results in high cost of printing, fraud and theft, and inventory management problems.

Emdia Puntoflex solution involves a paradigm shift – the replacement of physical cards with electronic product delivery and replenishment solutions. This new method results in important cost elimination and reduction, and a broadening of the product offering.

Emida is offering all the advantages of electronic prepaid distribution to a broad number of retail and service providers worldwide through the Puntoflex network.

Money Transfer

While the money transfer market to Latin America exceeds $30b per year, this market has limited scalability for many retailers due to the difficulty and cost of integrating new agencies. Consumers don’t control the use of money sent to relatives (cash transfers), and larger retailers are looking to capture money transfer consumption.

Puntoflex solves many of these problems by allowing for multi-service money transfer network (enables sender to control use of sent funds), the elimination of scalability constraints (seamless integration of new agencies worldwide), and multi-service features that enables large retailers to capture local consumers.

Stored Value Cards

There is an estimated 235 million-user market for stored value cards. Included in this market are teen cards, private label cards, retailer loyalty and gift cards, food cards, gas cards, transportation cards and others.

Today there are 100 million credit cards and 140 million debit cards issued by financial institutions in Latin America. However, traditional card offerings exclude the un-banked consumer. And while banks are going after the stored value/prepaid card sector, they lack the points of contact with the un-banked client. In addition, large retailers and service providers are looking to offer stored value/loyalty products.

The Puntoflex network has the ability to reach the un-banked consumer by providing loading, replenishment, and processing of stored value cards at any participating POS and Puntoflex also offers stored value card products in conjunction with major retailers and service providers.

Bill Payment

Puntoflex offers point of sale bill payment services including utilities, telecommunications, insurance, loans, taxes, tuition and others.

Today, banks are the main collection agent, charging high commissions, and offering a small number of agencies with limited operating hours. In addition, the lack efficient collection networks, have long collection cycles and inefficient service centers that are overcrowded with customers.

Puntoflex can solve these problems with integration to virtually any service provider’s billing platform in order to provide bill payment and PIN-less service recharge, thereby offering the ability to collect payments for multiple services at one point of sale, and create a multi-provider bill payment network.
